The top list of the best kebab restaurants in Cologne

Kebab is not only one of the best-known culinary specialties in Turkey, but has also established itself as an integral part of German gastronomy. Cologne’s has a wide range of kebab shops, from crème de la crème to those you'd rather not go to. I've visited a few for you guys and here are my top four.

**Büyük Harran Doy Doy: 24-hour service in Mühlheim**

There is a wealth of dining establishments on lively Keupstrasse, including the Doy Doy restaurant. The seating capacity has only recently been increased again - to 350. The size of the venue is reflected in the variety of Anatolian dishes on offer. Guests can enjoy traditional Turkish food in several rooms with stone walls and ornate door frames. Whether opting for a kebab sandwich to take away or a kebab wrap to sit in, it's all delicious and quality. The restaurant's service staff is fast - someone is at your table within a minute. Büyük Harran Doy Doy also has the great advantage of being open 24 hours a day.

**Kebapland: Kebabs with cult status in Ehrenfeld**

This place on Venloer Strasse has achieved cult status, not least thanks to comedian Jan Böhmermann, who has declared it his favorite snack bar. It has a simple interior with fast and friendly service. Kebapland’s menu is small and consists exclusively of delicious dishes. They use a stone oven and the highlight is the warm bread spread with the grill marinade and served to all guests. The classic kebab sandwich is made here with adana (a spicy minced meat) kebab.

**Oruc Kebab: Fresh bread and top quality**

Oruc Kebab opened in 1988 and is located on the corner of Heinsbergstraße and Kyffhäuserstraße, near Züpicher Straße, a popular entertainment area. Although many might expect the "Zülpicher Döner" here, I find Oruc Kebab more worth mentioning. One of the more expensive kebab places in Cologne, the popularity of this place is certainly due to the quality of the products. Rather than buying ready-made bread, they make their own fresh pide and lahmacun flatbread, which they bake several times a day in their large oven. All other ingredients are also fresh, making for a delicious experience.

**Mangal Döner: The brothers Metin and Selih Dag know how to combine meat and bread into a delicious snack**

Everyone in Cologne knows their Mangal places - Mangal Restaurant, Mangal Döner and Mangal Gemüsekebap. Anyone who doesn't know the name knows it now, at the latest, after local soccer star Lukas Podolski opened the second Mangal Döner branch, right on Chlodwigplatz. The quality of the meat is superb and the bread is fresh and crusty. The portions are generous and the sauces are flavorful. The ambiance is modern and clean, and the service is friendly and prompt.
